  • Can I forward my Duquesne email to my Gmail (or other personal) account?
  • My forwarded emails aren't arriving in my personal inbox

  • How do I turn off email forwarding?

Resolution

Duquesne University prohibits employees from automatically forwarding University email to personal email accounts. Auto-forwarding can be set up in two places, so check both of the locations below. Students are permitted to forward email.

Outlook on the Web

  1. Go to duq.edu/mail and sign in.
  2. Select Settings > View all Outlook settings.
  3. Select Mail > Forwarding.
  4. Clear the Enable forwarding checkbox.
  5. Select Save.

Outlook Desktop Client (Windows)

  1. Open the Outlook desktop client.
  2. Select the Home tab, then select Rules.
  3. Select Manage Rules & Alerts.
  4. Find and select the rule you created to automatically forward email.
  5. Select Delete.

Outlook Desktop Client (macOS)

  1. Open the Outlook desktop client.
  2. Select the Home tab, then select Rules.
  3. Select Edit Rules.
  4. Find and select the rule you created to automatically forward email.
  5. Select the minus sign (–) to delete the rule.

Additional Information

  • Manual forwarding is still permitted for employees. You may manually forward individual messages to a personal account when the email is not confidential and not related to your job duties. For example, forwarding a University-wide email about the benefits open enrollment period is acceptable.
