Change or Reset Your MultiPass Password

Issue

I need to reset my Multipass Password
I forgot my Multipass Password

Environment

  • Duquesne University Multipass

Resolution

Option 1: Change Your Password (You Know Your Current Password)

Use this option if you remember your current MultiPass password and want to update it proactively or in response to a renewal reminder.

Steps:

  1. Go to Multipass Page
  2. Click Change/Forgot Password
  3. Enter your MultiPass username and current password, then click Login
    1. If you do not know your current password, click Claim Account or Forgot Your Password and follow those steps
  4. Enter your current password in the Old Password field
  5. Enter and confirm your new password
  6. Ensure all password requirements are met (green checkmarks will appear)
  7. Click Change Password
  8. A confirmation message will appear once the change is successful

Option 2: Reset Your Password (Forgotten or Expired)

Use this option if you’ve forgotten your password or it has expired and you can no longer log in.

Steps:

  1. Go to Multipass Page
  2. Click Change/Forgot Password
  3. Select Claim Account or Forgot Your Password?
  4. Enter your MultiPass username or D# and complete the CAPTCHA
  5. Choose your preferred recovery method (email or phone)
  6. Enter the verification code sent to your selected method
  7. Review and accept the University’s Computing and Technology policies
  8. Set and confirm your new password
  9. Click Reset Password
  10. You’ll receive confirmation once your password has been successfully reset

Mobile Users: The process is similar on smart phones. Use the same Welcome to MultiPass page and follow the prompts. Tap Next in the upper-right corner to proceed through each step.

Password Requirements

Your new password must:

  • Meet the minimum length and complexity criteria
  • Not contain personal information (e.g., name, username, D#)
  • Not include common sequences (e.g., "1234", "abcd")
  • Not reference Duquesne University (e.g., "duq", "duquesne", "bluff")
  • Not be too similar to previously used passwords

Green check marks will indicate when all requirements are satisfied.

Additional Information

  • Passwords must be changed annually. You will receive a reminder email two weeks before expiration.
  • After resetting your password, update any saved credentials in browsers or apps.
  • For access to university systems, visit the Duquesne Portal.
