How To: Install GlobalProtect from Off-Campus

Description

This document provides instructions for installing the GlobalProtect VPN client on a University-managed Windows or macOS device while away from campus.

Note: Before using GlobalProtect, you must enroll in Duo multi-factor authentication using a mobile device with the Duo Mobile app installed.

Steps

  1.  Go to https://gp.duq.edu
  2. Sign into the Duquesne University GlobalProtect VPN Portal using your MultiPass username and password

  3. Select the appropriate download based on your University-managed device's specifications

  4. After the download completes, open the file to install GlobalProtect VPN
  5. After GlobalProtect VPN is installed, you will be prompted to enter a portal address. Type gp.duq.edu and then click Connect

  6. In the GlobalProtect Sign In window, enter your MultiPass username and password and then click Sign In

  7. Approve the Duo Push sent to your mobile device for "DU Remote Access"
  8. You are now signed into GlobalProtect VPN!

Note

You will need to use your VPN on your University-managed computer to remotely access the following resources:

  • Banner Admin Pages
  • Banner Document Management (BDM)
  • Cognos
  • DU Photo Roster
  • Internal shared drives (ex. Einstein, CIFS)
  • Kronos

A VPN connection can only be established from an off-campus location.
