Claiming Your MultiPass Account

Overview

Your MultiPass credentials provide access to essential Duquesne University services, including Campus Link (Portal), Canvas, email, and more. New users must claim their MultiPass account before accessing these systems.


Recommended Setup

While the process can be completed on any device, we recommend using a desktop or laptop with an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari) for the best experience.


Steps to Claim Your MultiPass

  1. Access the Setup Page
    Visit the Welcome to MultiPass page and click Setup MultiPass.

  2. Start the Claim Process
    Select Claim Account or Forgot Your Password?

  3. Enter Your Credentials

    • Enter your Duquesne ID number (D#) or MultiPass username.
      • This information can be found in your admissions letter. 
      • MultiPass usernames 
      • If things don't seem right after entering your D#, use your username instead. 
    • Complete the CAPTCHA and click Continue.
  4. Choose a Verification Method

    • Select your preferred contact method (email or phone) to receive a verification code.
    • Click Continue.
  5. Verify Your Identity

    • Enter the verification code sent to your selected contact method and click Continue.
  6. Accept University Policies

    • Review the Computing and Technology policies.
    • Check I Agree and click Continue.
  7. Set Your Password

    • Create a secure password that meets all listed criteria.
    • Confirm the password and click Reset Password.

Password Requirements

Your MultiPass password must meet all security requirements. Specifically, it must:

  • Satisfy the minimum length and complexity criteria listed on the setup page
  • Not contain personal information (e.g., your name, username, or D#)
  • Not include common or predictable sequences (e.g., "1234", "abcd")
  • Not reference Duquesne University or related terms (e.g., "duq", "duquesne", "bluff")
  • Not be too similar to any previously used passwords

A green checkmark will appear next to each requirement as it is met.


Next Steps

1. Sign In to the Duquesne Portal

Go to portal.duq.edu and sign in using your MultiPass username and newly created password.

You will be prompted to enroll in Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). CTS strongly recommends:

  • Installing the Duo Mobile app for secure and convenient access
  • Enrolling more than one device (e.g., smartphone and tablet or hardware token) to ensure backup access

2. Update Recovery and Emergency Contact Information

Visit duq.edu/multipass, select DU Alert Info, and:

  • Review and update your password recovery email and phone number
  • Set your emergency alert preferences to receive timely notifications from the University
