How To: Stop a Zoombombing

Description

A Zoombombing is a type of harassment using Zoom by which an unwelcome individual or group of individuals interrupt online meetings with disruptive sound and video. This article will explain how to stop one as it happens.

Steps

Take back control of your meeting

  1. Mute all participants and Disable the ability for participates to unmute themselves:
    • a. Open Manage Participants

    • b. Click Mute All

    • c. Uncheck Allow Participants to Unmute Themselves
  2. Verbally tell your participants:
    • a. That your meeting has been Zoombombed and that they should be patient while you handle the situation.
    • b. They should not leave the meeting as they will not be able to re-enter when you resume.
  3. Use the Security button to:
    • a. Lock the meeting so no one new can enter
    • b. Uncheck the option to allow participants to Share Screen
    • c. Uncheck the Chat feature
    • d. Remove the intruding Participants

You have now regained control and can continue your meeting

  1. Enable Chat
  2. Allow participants to un-mute themselves
  3. If needed, allow participants to share screen
  4. DO NOT simply unlock your meeting, as your meeting has been compromised. You can:
    1. Leave your meeting Locked OR
    2. Enable the Waiting Room as your meeting location has been compromised
