Request a shared calendar

Employees can request a shared calendar on this page: Request Shared Calendar

After your shared calendar is created, follow the steps below for opening the calendar and assigning permissions.

 

Open a shared calendar

 

Outlook Web App (OWA)
  1. Go to duq.edu/mail and sign into your University email account.
  2. Click the calendar icon in the bottom left corner.
  3. Click Import calendar.
  4. Select From directory.
  5. Type the name of the shared calendar you want to add and select it from the search results.
  6. Click Add.
Microsoft Outlook (Windows OS)
  1. Open Outlook and click the calendar icon in the bottom left corner.
  2. Click Open Calendar.
  3. Select From Address Book.
  4. Choose Global Address List in the Address Book dropdown menu.
  5. Search for the calendar and double-click to open.
Microsoft Outlook (macOS)
  1. Open Outlook and click the calendar icon in the bottom left corner.
  2. Click Open Shared Calendar.
  3. Type the full calendar name in the search box.
  4. Select the appropriate calendar from the displayed results.
  5. Click Open.
Note: To view additional details about a calendar's appointments, the calendar owner will need to grant either Editor or Reviewer permissions to your account.

 

Assign permissions to a shared calendar

Note: Only the calendar owner or someone with delegate or full access permissions can assign calendar sharing permissions.

 

Outlook Web App

  1. Visit https://outlook.office.com and sign in.
  2. Click the Calendar icon from the left navigation bar.
  3. Right-click the calendar name (under My Calendars).
  4. Select Sharing and permissions.
  5. Type the name or email address of the person you want to share the calendar with.
  6. Select their permission level (e.g., Can view all details or Can edit).
  7. Click Share or Done to confirm.
Note: If you receive a message saying permissions cannot be set, click OK. The changes will still take effect.

 

Outlook Desktop Application (Windows/macOS)

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Right-click the calendar name listed under My Calendars in the navigation pane.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Go to the Permissions tab.
  5. Click Add to search for and select the person you want to share the calendar with.
  6. Choose a permission level (e.g., Editor or Reviewer).
  7. Click OK to save. If you receive a message saying permissions cannot be set, click OK. The changes will still take effect
