This article will assist faculty and staff in uploading files to a Canvas Module.

Steps

Add a File to a Module

  1. From the course navigation menu, select Modules

    Note: If you haven’t created a Module, please refer to these instructions.
  2. Click the plus sign to the right of the module

  3. Using the dropdown next to Add, select File

  4. Click [Create File(s)] to upload a file from your computer

    Note: If you would like to add an existing course file select from the file(s) listed under course files then click Add Item.

  5. Select Browse or Choose File, depending on your browser

  6. If desired, use the dropdown next to Indentation to indent the file

  7. Click Add Item

  8. The file will show at the bottom of the Module and automatically be published

How to Rename an Existing File

  1. To the right of the file's name, click the options (three dots) icon

  2. Click Edit

  3. In the Title textbox rename the file
  4. If desired, use the dropdown next to Indentation to indent the file
  5. Click Update to save changes
