How To: Connect a Computer to DuqNet Wi-Fi (Mac & Windows)

Description

DuqNet, Duquesne University's high-speed wireless network, provides wireless connectivity across all campus buildings and in many outdoor areas. Students, faculty and staff can connect to DuqNet on their personal and university-managed devices. You can connect to DuqNet on most devices by selecting the wireless network named "DuqNet" and signing in with your MultiPass username and password.

However, some devices require you to change network settings in order to connect to DuqNet. Detailed instructions for connecting to DuqNet on a computer are provided here.

Windows

Delete, remove or forget Wireless Network Profiles in Windows

You will need to forget DuqNet if you have previously attempted to add it. Follow the steps below to do so.  If you do not need to forget DuqNet, then please skip to the next section.

  1. Look in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen to find your wireless icon

  2. Left-click the icon, then select Network & Internet Settings
  3. You will see a link to Manage Wi-Fi Settings. Click it

  4. Now, scroll down to find DuqNet, and click on it once so it is highlighted

  5. Click Forget and close the window

Connecting to DuqNet

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the lower right-hand corner to open a list of networks
  2. Select DuqNet from the list of Wi-Fi networks
  3. Enter your MultiPass username and password when prompted

MacOS

Removing Preferred Networks from macOS

You may need to forget DuqNet if you have previously attempted to add it. Follow the steps below to do so.  If you do not need to forget DuqNet, then please skip to the next section.

  1. Click on your Wireless icon on the menu bar at the top of the screen and select Open Network Preferences

  2. Under the Network Preferences, make sure the Wi-Fi tab is selected and click Advanced

  3. Under the Advanced pane, make sure the Wi-Fi tab is selected. If DuqNet is listed in the Preferred Networks box, click the "-" button to remove DuqNet

Connecting to DuqNet

  1. Click on the wireless radio icon on the menu bar at the top of the screen
  2. Select DuqNet

  3. Enter your MultiPass username and password and click Join

  4. You are now connected to DuqNet!
