Description
This document provides step-by-step instructions for installing Endnote 21 on both a Windows and Mac computer.
Operating System
Windows
- Go to the CTS Software Catalog and click EndNote, then sign into DORI
- Click Download under EndNote 21, then you will be redirected to a Box folder. Click Download
- Open File Explorer and go to your Downloads folder
- Right-click on the EndNote 21.zip file and choose Extract All. Click Extract and make sure the box is checked to open files in a new window
- Double-click on the EN21Inst.msi file to begin the installation process
Make sure the EN21Inst.msi install file is in the same folder as the License.dat file, which it is by default.
- Click Next, then click Accept
- Click Next, read the license agreement, select I Accept The License Agreement, then click Next
- Click Typical and then click Next, then click Next again
- Click Next, and if prompted for User Account Control permission click Yes, then click Finish after installation is complete
- Click Start and search for EndNote to begin using the program
- You may be prompted to update EndNote upon launch. Click Download and Install then follow the steps to install the update
macOS
- Go to the CTS Software Catalog and click EndNote, then sign into DORI
- Click Download, then you will be redirected to a Box folder. Click Download
- Open Finder and go to your Downloads folder
- Double-click on the EndNote20-20201218.pkg file to begin the installation process; click Continue
Note: You may be prompted to go to System Preferences > Security > Privacy to allow the installation file to be opened.
- Click Continue, make sure the Macintosh HD is selected, then click Continue
- Click Install to begin the installation process, and once the installation is complete, select Move to Trash to delete the installation file
- To launch EndNote 20, go to Finder > Applications > EndNote
- You may be prompted to update EndNote upon initial launch. Click Download and Install then follow the steps to install the update
