Workstation Trust Relationship Error

Issue:


User is unable to sign into a Windows machine. The following error message appears:
"The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed."

Environment:

  • Windows operating system

Resolution:

  1. Initial Troubleshooting Steps:

    • Connect the machine to DuqNet using an Ethernet cable or docking station.
    • Restart the machine.
    • Confirm that the Ethernet icon appears in the lower-right corner of the screen.
    • Attempt to sign in again.
  2. If the Error Persists:

    • Scenario A: Primary user cannot sign in, but another user can:

      • Have the user sign into the machine.
      • Open Dell Command Update.
      • Scan for and install all available updates.
      • Restart the machine and repeat the initial troubleshooting steps.
    • Scenario B: No one can sign into the machine:

      • Laptop: Bring the device to the TechHub located on the 2nd floor of the Union.
      • Desktop: Submit an elevated support request to the technical team.
