Web Browsers

Body

Summary

Web browsers are software applications used to access and navigate the internet. They allow users to view websites, access web-based applications (such as Canvas, Microsoft 365, and other University systems), and securely browse online content.

Commonly supported web browsers include Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari.

Access

Web browsers are publicly available software. Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome are pre-installed on campus windows computers. Additional approved browsers may be installed through software deployment tools.

Students and Personally Owned Devices can download and install browsers directly from the vendor's websites:

Requirements

Web browsers are compatible with most modern operating systems but to maintain compatibility and access users should:

  • Keep browsers updated to the latest version
  • Allow pop-ups for approved University sites when required
  • Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when accessing secure University systems
