Overview

Devices you own, such as your smartphone, tablet or Apple Watch, can be enrolled in Duo MFA. Computing and Technology Services (CTS) recommends registering at least two devices. This way, if your primary device becomes unavailable for any reason, you will be able to use your secondary device to continue logging into Duo-enabled services.

Eligible devices

Mobile device with the Duo Mobile app installed

Download the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone, tablet or Apple Watch for the most convenient MFA option. Use the Duo Push feature to approve an MFA login request by simply tapping "approve" on a push notification sent to your device.

How it works: Select Send Me a Push on the Duo login prompt, open the push notification on your device and tap Approve.

Where can I get it?: Download Duo Mobile on your iOS or Android device.


Duo hardware token

Generate a one-time six-digit passcode you can type into the Duo login prompt.

How it works: Select Enter a Passcode on the Duo login prompt, press the button on your hardware token to generate a new passcode, type it into the space provided and click Log In.

Where can I get it?: Duo hardware tokens are available for purchase at the Duquesne Computer Store. After purchasing your Duo hardware token, please contact the CTS Help Desk to register it with your Duo account.


YubiKey USB security key

Yubico YubiKeys allow you to quickly authenticate into Duo by tapping the USB device.

How it works: Select Enter a Passcode on the Duo login prompt and tap your finger on the YubiKey to automatically generate a passcode.

Where can I get it?: Duo hardware tokens are available for purchase at the Duquesne Computer Store. After purchasing your Duo hardware token, please contact the IT Service Desk to register it with your Duo account.


Landline phone

Answer a call to your landline phone and follow the steps to approve your login request.

How it works: Select Call Me on the Duo login prompt, answer the call to your phone and press 1 to log in.
