Transfer Calls on University Mitel Phones

Issue/Question

How do I transfer a call to another person or voicemail using my Mitel phone?

Environment

  • University-issued Mitel desk phones are used by faculty and staff.

Resolution/Answer

Warm (Attended) Transfer

  1. While on a call, press the Transfer key.
  2. Dial the extension or external number.
  3. Wait for the recipient to answer.
  4. Let the person know who you are transferring and why.
  5. Press the Transfer key or Yes soft key to complete the transfer.

Note: You cannot transfer calls while the caller is on hold.

Cold (Blind) Transfer

  1. While on a call, press the Transfer key.
  2. Dial the extension or number.
  3. Immediately press the Transfer key again or hang up.

Cancel a Transfer

  • Press the Cancel soft key or the Line button to return to the original call.

Note: Some call types (e.g., Ring Groups or calls routed through screening rules) may not support voicemail transfers.
