Enable your Softphone on MiCollab Client

Description

MiCollab Softphone can be used to make and receive calls instead of your Mitel desk phone. As a part of the MiCollab PC/Mac, and Mobile client for every user, you simply have to tell MiCollab to use the Softphone feature.

Steps

Softphone on the Windows PC or Mac Computer

  1. On your PC or Mac client, simply enable Softphone in MiCollab (lower right). Click to toggle your Softphone on.

2. Ensure your MiCollab is set to use it to make calls.

3. To ensure you have the right audio device selected, use the Setup Icon located on the lower left corner. It can also be located from the menu options on the left-hand side. Note: the options can be changed in an active call.

4. You will want to ensure your. inbound calls are being sent to your Softphone. Click on your picture to manage your status.

5. Ensure the status of your Softphone is enabled. If not, click on your preferred status option. Then, toggle the option to ensure. incoming calls ring to your Softphone.

Softphone on the Mobile Client

  • You can also use the MiCollab Softphone on your mobile device. This is convenient if you do not want to incur call handling charges. Please ensure you are on WiFi to avoid carrier data usage.
  • To active Softphone on your mobile, open the MiCollab app on your phone. Swipe the little green tab located on the right side into the middle of the screen to access your availability status. Select the desired availability status and ensure that the Softphone option is enabled.

 

How to Use the MiCollab Softphone

Description

The MiCollab Softphone application provides you with different options for making calls, receiving calls and using active call controls.

Steps

Make a call

There are several ways to make a call using MiCollab Softphone, including:

  • Enter a contact's name or 10-digit phone number in the search bar located at the top of the window.
  • Hover over a contact's profile picture and click on the phone icon
  • Right-click a contact's profile picture and select Call

Receive a call

When you receive an incoming call, a notification will appear in the bottom right corner of your computer screen. Click on the notification to be redirected to the Call Ringing window.

  • To answer a call, click the green phone icon.
  • To ignore a call, click the red phone icon.

Active call controls

End a call

To end a call, click the red phone hang up icon in the active call window.

Transfer a call

  1. While on an active call, click the icon with three vertical dots and then select Transfer.
  2. Select a contact or type a 10-digit phone number in the main window.
  3. Choose whether you want the transfer to be a blind transfer or consultation call.

Make a conference call

  1. While on an active call, click the icon with three vertical dots and then select Conference.
  2. Select a contact or type a 10-digit phone number in the main window.
  3. Click the icon for consultation call.
  4. Click the + (plus) icon to finish setting up the conference call.

Put on hold

While on an active call, click the pause icon to place the call on hold. When you want to resume the call, click the pause icon again.

Note

  • You can access the chat feature from the toolbar located on the left side of the screen (web) or by swiping to the left on your screen (mobile app).
  • You can use MiCollab Softphone both on and away from campus.
  • MiCollab Softphone can be used without being connected to Duquesne's VPN.

Access the Web-Based Version of MiCollab Softphone

If you did not download or do not have access to the MiCollab Softphone application, you can still access your account online.

Steps

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Go to https://vmas-37.hosted.voipnetworks.com/portal/
  3. Click the MiCollab Client link above the login fields.
  4. Enter your MiCollab login ID and password.
  5. Click Login.
  6. Accept the emergency calls warning.
