How To: Remove Extraneous Text Formatting in Canvas

Description

This article is intended to provide instructions on how to remove extraneous text formatting. Canvas uses one font to support accessibility.  There may be extraneous text formatting that came across from Blackboard that Canvas was not able to strip out.

Steps

Remove Extraneous Text Formatting Using the Rich Content Editor – Clear Formatting Icon

  1. Open a Module

  2. Click on the content you want to format

  3. In the top right-hand corner click on Edit

  4. Highlight the text you want to format.
  5. Click the Clear Formatting icon on the Rich Content Editor tool bar.

  6. Click Save

Remove Extraneous Text Formatting Using Notepad or TextEdit

Note: We recommend using Clear Formatting in the Rich Content Editor.  Please use Notepad or TextEdit if the Clear Formatting steps above do not work.

  1. Open a Module

  2. Click on the content you want to format

  3. In the top right-hand corner click on Edit

  4. Highlight the text you want to format.
  5. Copy the text
  6. Open Notepad (PC) or TextEdit (MAC) on your computer
  7. Paste the text into Notepad or TextEdit
  8. Copy the text from Notepad or TextEdit
  9. Go back to Canvas where you copied the text from
  10. Click in the textbox
  11. Delete the selected text before pasting
  12. Paste the newly formatted text
  13. Click Save
