Overview
Your MultiPass password secures access to Duquesne University systems such as Campus Link (Portal), Canvas, email, and more. To maintain account security, you are required to change your password annually. This article outlines how to:
- Change your password if you know your current credentials
- Reset your password if it has been forgotten or expired
Recommended Setup
You can complete these steps on any device, but for the best experience, we recommend using a desktop or laptop with an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari).
Option 1: Updating Your Password (When You Know Your Current Password)
Use this option if you remember your current MultiPass password and want to update it—either proactively or in response to a renewal reminder.
Steps:
- Visit the Welcome to MultiPass page
- Click Change/Forgot Password
- Select Log In to Change Your Password
- Enter your MultiPass username and current password, then click Login
- Enter your current password in the Old Password field
- Enter and confirm your new password
- Ensure all password requirements are met (green checkmarks will appear)
- Click Change Password
- A confirmation message will appear once the change is successful
Option 2: Recovering Access (Forgotten or Expired Password)
Use this option if you’ve forgotten your password or it has expired and you can no longer log in.
Steps:
- Visit the Welcome to MultiPass page
- Click Change/Forgot Password
- Select Claim Account or Forgot Your Password?
- Enter your MultiPass username or D# and complete the CAPTCHA
- Choose your preferred recovery method (email or phone)
- Enter the verification code sent to your selected method
- Review and accept the University’s Computing and Technology policies
- Set and confirm your new password, ensuring all requirements are met
- Click Reset Password
- You’ll receive confirmation once your password has been successfully reset
Mobile Users: The process is similar on smartphones. Use the same Welcome to MultiPass page and follow the prompts. Tap Next in the upper-right corner to proceed through each step.
Password Requirements
Your new password must:
- Meet the minimum length and complexity criteria
- Not contain personal information (e.g., name, username, D#)
- Not include common sequences (e.g., "1234", "abcd")
- Not reference Duquesne University (e.g., "duq", "duquesne", "bluff")
- Not be too similar to previously used passwords
Green checkmarks will indicate when all requirements are satisfied.
