MFA overview

MFA is a security mindset of using two factors to authenticate your identity when signing in to a website, application or other online services. These factors include something you know, like a username and password, and something you have, such as a smartphone or security key.

A common example of MFA is withdrawing money from an ATM. To gain access to your bank account, you need a bank card (something you have) and your PIN (something you know).
