Request a shared calendar
Employees can request a shared calendar on this page: Request Shared Calendar
After your shared calendar is created, follow the steps below for opening the calendar and assigning permissions.
Open a shared calendar
Outlook Web App (OWA)
- Go to duq.edu/mail and sign into your University email account.
- Click the calendar icon in the bottom left corner.
- Click Import calendar.
- Select From directory.
- Type the name of the shared calendar you want to add and select it from the search results.
- Click Add.
Microsoft Outlook (Windows OS)
- Open Outlook and click the calendar icon in the bottom left corner.
- Click Open Calendar.
- Select From Address Book.
- Choose Global Address List in the Address Book dropdown menu.
- Search for the calendar and double-click to open.
Microsoft Outlook (macOS)
- Open Outlook and click the calendar icon in the bottom left corner.
- Click Open Shared Calendar.
- Type the full calendar name in the search box.
- Select the appropriate calendar from the displayed results.
- Click Open.
Note: To view additional details about a calendar's appointments, the calendar owner will need to grant either Editor or Reviewer permissions to your account.
Assign permissions to a shared calendar
Note: Only the calendar owner or someone with delegate or full access permissions can assign calendar sharing permissions.
Outlook Web App
- Visit https://outlook.office.com and sign in.
- Click the Calendar icon from the left navigation bar.
- Right-click the calendar name (under My Calendars).
- Select Sharing and permissions.
- Type the name or email address of the person you want to share the calendar with.
- Select their permission level (e.g., Can view all details or Can edit).
- Click Share or Done to confirm.
Note: If you receive a message saying permissions cannot be set, click OK. The changes will still take effect.
Outlook Desktop Application (Windows/macOS)
- Open Outlook.
- Right-click the calendar name listed under My Calendars in the navigation pane.
- Select Properties.
- Go to the Permissions tab.
- Click Add to search for and select the person you want to share the calendar with.
- Choose a permission level (e.g., Editor or Reviewer).
- Click OK to save. If you receive a message saying permissions cannot be set, click OK. The changes will still take effect
