Note

General Information & Helpful Tips

  • Arranging tiles has to be done on the app and portal separately, they do not sync. We recommend arranging the one you use most, and if you use both, arranging them to match.  This doesn’t sync automatically due to the product’s functionality.

  • Most menus are alphabetical order, a few have pinned items at the top.

  • Menu items can’t be hidden or arranged.

  • Tile colors can’t be changed and they can’t be put into categories (except rearranging them) due to the product’s functionality.

  • Some Life/Safety and University Policy & Mission related tiles are not able to be hidden but can be arranged.

  • We are not using the Alerts feature in Phase 1.

Troubleshooting the App

  • If you see 2 columns of tiles and menu wording is cut off, you may have a display zoom turned on. On iOS go to Settings > Display & Brightness > at bottom, Display: Display Zoom, make sure this says Default.

  • If screens are blank in the app when you click around, it closes unexpectedly, or things appear incorrectly, please make sure you have the minimal OS requirements per the app stores pages. You may need to update your operating system (OS) version for the Duquesne U app to work properly.

    • Workaround on mobile devices.
      • If the app is not loading certain resources, we have found this can be due to a device limitation or conflict with the app of some sort (even if you have an updated OS).
      • A workaround is to load the portal on your mobile device via a web browser (i.e. go to https://portal.duq.edu) and you will have a similar experience with most content.
