How To: Participate in a Zoom Meeting

Description

Zoom Meetings is a web conferencing solution that meets a wide variety of collaboration needs, including collaborating inside the classroom environment. This article is intended to guide students through participating in a Zoom Meeting set up by their instructor or any other meeting host.

Accessing Zoom Meetings

Accessing Zoom Meetings via a Provided Link

If your instructor is using Zoom outside of Canvas, you will be provided with a link to the meeting. This may arrive via email. If you are unsure where to find it, contact your instructor.

To access, click on the meeting link that you have been provided by your instructor. Move to step #3 of the next section to continue.

Accessing Zoom Meetings through Canvas

If your instructor is using Zoom within Blackboard, select the Zoom Meetings link from your course menu then click on the Join button for the meeting that you wish to join.

  1. Select the Zoom Meetings link from the course menu.

  2. Select the Join button for the meeting you need to attend

  3. Open the Zoom launcher when prompted
    Note: If this is your first time accessing a Zoom session, you will be prompted to download the Zoom launcher.

  4. If prompted with “This meeting is for authorized attendees only”, follow steps a-e below. If you are not, move to step 5 to continue.
    • a. Select Sign in to Join if the meeting is for authorized attendees only

    • b. Click Sign In
    • c. Click SSO
    • d. Enter duq.zoom.us for the Company Domain
    • e. Sign in with your MultiPass credentials to join the meeting
  5. Select your preferred audio connection, either Computer Audio or Phone Call
  • Join with Computer Audio
  • Join by Phone Call. If joining by phone follow the instructions on-screen

6. Use the various meeting controls to participate in the session

Manage Audio and Video

Manage Audio

  1. Click the arrow to the right of Mute/Unmute audio
  2. From this drop-down
    • a. Select a Microphone
    • b. Select a Speaker
    • c. Test Speaker & Microphone or Switch Audio

Manage Video

  1. Click the arrow to the right to Start/Stop Video
  2. Select a Camera

Share Screen

  1. Select Share Screen

  2. Select the Screen you wish to Share

  3. Click Share

Participants

  1. Click Participants to view the host and other participants in the meeting

Chat

  1. Click Chat to begin chatting with the host and other participants

  2. Enter your message into Type message here and click Enter to send

Reactions

Reactions can be used to place an icon in your video panel and beside your name in the participants panel to communicate with the host and other participants without disrupting the flow of the meeting.

  1. Click Reactions

  2. Select a reaction to provide feedback

Leave the Meeting

  1. Select Leave Meeting to exit the meeting
