Steps

  1. Determine whether the printer you want to install is a Xerox or an HP or Brother printer

Installing Printers Through Duquesne Self Service

In many cases, department printers can be added to computers through the Self Service app.

*If you have an issue with the Self Service printer tool failing, connect to GlobalProtect VPN and try to add the printer again.*

  1. Determine whether the printer you want to install is a Xerox or an HP or Brother printer
  2. Find the device name of your printer; this will typically be formatted with an abbreviation of the building it is located in, followed by a room number and the brand of the printer. For example, a Xerox printer located in room 413 of College Hall will be named ch413xerox. If you do not know the printer name, ask your department supervisor to provide this information.

  7. In the search bar in the top left of the box, type "Print" and look for the one that says "Add Printers (HP or Xerox)" and click "Run".
  8. After clicking "Run", a box will pop up like the one shown below. This is where you choose the building from the drop down menu that has the printer you want.

     9. Once you have chosen your building, the next screen will have another drop down menu that lists all available printers for the building you chose. Click on whichever printer you would like to install from this list.

10. You will then get a pop up box showing that the printer was installed successfully.
