What Is It?
Privileged Access will provide employees and vendors enhanced security around existing University business practices that involve sensitive and privileged information.
The technology will provide several key features in securing access to restricted and privileged
University data:
- An employee must login to the privileged access client with their MultiPass credentials to initiate the connection to the sensitive infrastructure or asset.
- Employees logging into the privileged access client must also provide a second-factor of authentication via Duo (also known as “multi-factor” or “two-factor” authentication).
- A secure, encrypted session will be established from the user’s workstation to the privileged access server.
- These sessions provide the ability to be audited and provide a single point of entry to critical infrastructure/assets, allowing CTS Information Security staff to better protect, monitor and alert against potential threats.
Who Is Eligible to Use It?
Faculty, Staff, and University Partners/Vendors
Where Can I Get It?
Click "Request Access" via the button to the right.
Employees requiring privileged access to sensitive systems and data must first file a ticket with the IT Service Desk (help@duq.edu) to initiate a “Privileged Access” account request. The requester will need to know what server(s) they wish to connect to as well as services/ports. The request will be reviewed and approved by the Chief Information Security Officer. The Manager of Secure Integrated Infrastructure will continue the process by provisioning access and provide on boarding support.
Note: Employees cannot request access to sensitive systems for themselves. Self-requests for access will be denied approval. New requests for access, such as Banner database access, must be submitted through this form by the employee's manager or supervisor.
